He was gone for 26 hours in February. Hearing how it happened blew my mind. Apparently he was upset, huddled at the gate after other dogs had had a scuffle and it had scared him. Helen or one of the team wanted to get two other dogs out of the enclosure and instead of using the other gates that create an airlock they tried to get two dogs out past mine. So he ran away. When looking for him, a young lad in the village said “don’t worry this happens all the time, they always come back”. The secure fields they have are not secure the gates were always pinned wide open when I was there. After searching for neary 24 hours I sat at the daycare waiting for another sighting and while I sat there I watched another dog get out of the secure enclosure and then have to be chased around caught and brought back as it was not to walk with the others. The others were all loose, gates open. For extra safety one of the dogs was put on a long line, and the long line left loose, with Helen about 20 feet behind the end of the line. When they returned from the walk, ruffus who was on the long line decided he was heading straight up to the open gate in front of the vicarage. No way he could have been caught if he’d decided to run. It absolutely blew my mind that so little care was taken especially when I was sitting there worried sick about my lost puppy! Dopey and negligent. I should have know not to leave my dog with people who didn’t even notice when a dog cocked it’s leg on them and pee’d on them while they were talking to us.
The village were incredible and I couldn’t have found merlin without their help. At least I knew he was still nearby. And he ended up in a lovely ladies garden behind the church, exhausted, terrified, starving and his paws raw and bleeding. It took a long time for us to recover from the trauma of those two days! For £40 a day and such a small number of dogs I had expected it would be run with the utmost care. Sadly not.]]>

Review of WalKeys by Amanda Elderfield, Didcot Sun, 20 Nov 2022 17:26 GMT https://www.freeindex.co.uk/profile(walkeys)_116872.htm 892124 Amanda Elderfield Rating of 1.0 Sadly you can't give less than a 1 star as 1 star is far too much!

Walkeys, owners and staff lost a dog on Friday, 11th November, 2022 from their Daycare Unit in South Stoke. The dog was narrowly missedby a car at 6.00 p. M that evening on the B4009, then the nightmare began for people out trying to catch it …. The poor dog was out in the countryside in terrible weather for six days and five nights before it was luckily caught by a member of the public.

At no time did anyone from Walkeys assist with the search for the dog, in fact they made no effort in the two days before the owners came to collect the dog to even contact them, they made no social media posts and failed to reply to the many being posted by people trying to catch the dog. No lost dog notifications or staff out looking!! ….
Absolutely nothing from Walkeys to assist in getting this dog safe and well back with owners. The owners were not even made aware that their dog was in fact lost/missing until the Sunday, 13th November.

Sadly this has happened before with other dogs under Walkeys care and I use the word 'care' extremely loosely!!!

Walkeys failed in their duty of care and welfare for this dog.

Walkeys limited liability partnership…. Their business name describes them to perfection…
Limited liability, they have no liability for any care and welfare of dogs absolutely none!!!!

Thankfully a happy outcome it could have been a completely different one ….]]>

Review of WalKeys by Emma Johnson, Didcot Thu, 12 Nov 2015 19:16 GMT https://www.freeindex.co.uk/profile(walkeys)_116872.htm 606203 Emma Johnson Rating of 5.0 Helen and her team have been wonderful especially May who walked my dog most regularly. Due to my work I need my dog walked different days week to week and often walks at very short notice and Helen always managed to get my dog walked no matter how late notice it was. I'm moving to Abingdon now and really wish they covered that area too!!! Thanks Walkeys we will both really miss you.]]> 1 5.0 5 Review of WalKeys by Eleanor Hall, Wallingford Sat, 4 Jul 2015 10:17 GMT https://www.freeindex.co.uk/profile(walkeys)_116872.htm 579397 Eleanor Hall Rating of 4.7 Vanessa and Philip looked after our cat Gilly whilst we were away. I only contacted Walkeys last minute and they were very helpful in accommodating our needs. Vanessa text us updates and sent us a photo of Gilly looking very content, which was a really nice touch. We'll definitely use Walkeys again.]]> 1 4.7 5 Review of WalKeys by Mrs Pithers, Abingdon Wed, 17 Jun 2015 08:44 GMT https://www.freeindex.co.uk/profile(walkeys)_116872.htm 575735 Mrs Pithers Rating of 1.0 Disgusting 'company'!! Our dogs were attacked by a dog in their care and it's nearly 6 weeks later and they still haven't done anything about it despite us sending copies of the vets reports/invoices. One of our dogs had to have emergency surgery following the attack, Helen Hunt has been obstructive and rude throughout. We are now looking at going to the Small Claims Court and having a report filed against Walkeys at Companies House.
Company response : We sympathise with Ms Pithers and are doing all we can to resolve this problem.
We reported this incident to our insurance company on the day the dog fight occurred and passed to them all reports and VETS bills on receipt of them.
It is unfortunate that these things take a long time to resolve but it is, regretfully, beyond our control.]]>

Review of WalKeys by Debbie Gair, Wallingford Wed, 27 May 2015 09:41 GMT https://www.freeindex.co.uk/profile(walkeys)_116872.htm 571474 Debbie Gair Rating of 5.0 When we first got our rescue dog, George, he was an untrained and excitable hooligan and we struggled to find a dog walker who could, or would, walk him. We contacted Helen who came to meet him and reassured us that he wasn't a lost cause and agreed for Philip to walk him. This was 2 and a half years ago and they have walked him ever since, and if it wasn't for Walkeys we wouldn't have been able to keep him. Not only have they provided a totally reliable service, having never once let us down, they also care very deeply for George which is just as important to us. George absolutely loves his walks and Philip and Vanessa are two of his favourite people in the world, they have both played a large part in Georges transformation into a wonderful and very happy pet.]]> 1 5.0 5 Review of WalKeys by Emma Hartley, Didcot Sat, 23 May 2015 19:50 GMT https://www.freeindex.co.uk/profile(walkeys)_116872.htm 570962 Emma Hartley Rating of 2.7 May the dog walker is an amazing lady who is a true lover of dogs and they in turn love her. She is incredibly caring and has the dogs best interests at heart.

However, the owner of the company lets May down. We were chased on numerous occasions with "friendly reminders" when we had infact paid. We tried to make a claim against their insurance when our dog was attacked by another dog on the Ridgeway and he required medical attention due the fact a part of his ear had been removed, the owner advised that "because we felt that Bobby's injury was not sufficiently serious enough to take him to the Vets, it is not our responsibility and therefore we cannot claim". She threatened small claim court action for an invoice 5 days old for £100.

I can not recommend May enough but the admin and conduct of the owner was disgraceful.
Company response : We sympathise with Emma but I have explained to her that as she has to pay the first £50 and as the bill only came to £53, it really was not worth going through our insurance company. May contacted me at the time and she felt that the ear injury was not serious enough to take Bobby to the Vets (All of WalKeys staff are Pet First Aiders and May administered first aid at the time of the injury). A few weeks later I received a VETS bill from Emma for £53.00. Our terms state very clearly that a client agrees to pay the £50 of any Vets bill and this declaration has been signed by her. She has also signed a declaration that she would not hold WalKeys responsible should her dog be involved in a dog fight.
The amount outstanding was for walks during March and April, for which WalKeys had already paid the dog walker. Emma paid this to WalKeys on 12th May, after several requests for payment.
It is disappointing and unfortunate to hear that Emma feels this way but I wish her luck for her future. ]]>

Review of WalKeys by Leanne Miller, Wallingford Wed, 25 Feb 2015 09:58 GMT https://www.freeindex.co.uk/profile(walkeys)_116872.htm 553016 Leanne Miller Rating of 5.0 I can't recommend Walkeys highly enough. Vanessa walks my dog twice a week and he has the best time. I even get showed videos of him playing and having fun on his walks in fabulous places like the Ridgeway. I love that Vanessa treats each dog like one of her own, and she genuinely loves them all. My dog was a little nervous to get in the car at first, but Vanessa really went the extra mile to gain his trust and make sure he was happy travelling with the other dogs. Also being a behavioural expert she can help even difficult dogs integrate with the pack. Now my dog sits at the window waiting for her in the mornings!]]> 1 5.0 5 Review of WalKeys by Phil Craig, Wallingford Tue, 24 Feb 2015 19:00 GMT https://www.freeindex.co.uk/profile(walkeys)_116872.htm 552905 Phil Craig Rating of 5.0 Vanessa looks after our cat Roly when we are away. She does a fantastic job! We get updates by text about how he is doing and even photos showing Roly having his tea and being fussed!
I cannot rate Walkeys high enough, based on service and cost, they are brilliant.]]>

Review of WalKeys by Linda Rothwell, Reading Wed, 29 Oct 2014 21:05 GMT https://www.freeindex.co.uk/profile(walkeys)_116872.htm 528206 Linda Rothwell Rating of 5.0 This is the first time that we have had a house-sitter to look after our pets. Our circumstances changed when we got an English Setter Puppy earlier this year, who was a whole different 'ball game' to our very placid 7-year-old black labrador who we could take on holiday or leave with a friend! We had heard great things about 'Walkeys' from friends and know exactly where they are located, which is local to us. We were very, very happy on our return to find our two dogs very happy and the house looking just as we left it. When Philip came the next day of our return to bring back the keys, both dogs went 'bonkers' as they thought they were off for a long walk and lots of fun! Helen and Philip also fed our chickens. We are so delighted with their care and attention to detail. I do hope that they will have us back! Thank you very much.]]> 1 5.0 5
