Association of British Travel AgentsABTA was formed in 1950 and now represents over 5,000 travel agencies and over 900 tour operations across Britain.
The members range from specialist tour operators to larger, publicly listed companies. All carry the ABTA logo, which represents choice, value, and high levels of service.
The aim of ABTA is to maintain high standards of practice amongst members and for their customers. In the summer of 2008 ABTA amalgamated with the Federation of Tour Operators (FTO) to create a more authoritative voice for the travel industry at large.
