UK Wing Chun Kung Fu Association - Martial ArtsOperating from branches across the country, UK Wing Chun Kung Fu Association is one of the countries leading martial arts organisation offering traditional martial arts and self defence classes to the general public across the UK. Established in 1985 the association has many years experience in the Martial Arts and Self Defence sector.
The ukwckfa runs separate beginner, intermediate and advanced classes at their Crawley school (Kwoon) which has a fully equipped martial art facility. The expert instructors help students on their journey in martial arts from beginner to advanced student or instructor. The classes are structured to increase fitness, develop self defence skills and develop a positive attitude in a fun and educational environment every time.
Wing Chun Kung Fu is just one of many styles of martial arts whose origins are to be found in southern China and, compared to other arts, is a relatively new style.
Wing Chun is known as a 'soft' style, but is in fact a blend of both hard and soft techniques. This blending of hard and soft is due to the fact that a sensible balance is necessary. One story is that Wing Chun Kung Fu was originally developed by a woman. It is also said that the originator (said to be a Buddhist nun named Ng Mui) observed a battle between a cobra snake and a crane bird. From her observations sprang ideas to develop this art. Mimicking animal movements is particularly common to Chinese martial arts and stems from a respect for nature.
The friendly team of instructors are under the guidance of Matt Tucker Sifu who has over 25 years martial arts experience including over 15 years studying Wing Chun directly under the world renowned Master James Sinclair, Chief Instructor of the UKWCKFA. Sifu Matt who is Hong Kong certified and recognised by the Ving Tsun Athletic Association has had the privilege to teach a number of male and female students up to Instructor level and these students are a credit to the Association.
