Tocco Canvases - Fine Art and PaintingTocco Canvases produce professionally hand-stretched canvases from photographic and digital images.
Tocco canvases are hand-constructed by stretching the canvas around the frames, which is then tacked securely at the back. Each canvas is supplied with corner keys (wedges) which are used, along with the precisely made mitred, tongue and groove corner joints to expand the stretcher frame in very small increments to apply tension to the canvas. In time, all canvases will absorb some moisture and start to sag therefore, if the stretcher frame is not keyed to enable this to take place, the entire piece would have to be restretched.
100% natural cotton canvas is used which stretches beautifully and develops a high-level of water fastness. The true fine art texture along with the semi-matt finish creates colour vibrancy and gives them a feeling of being virtual works of art.
The frames are constructed using professional gallery wrap stretcher bars made from solid wood (not MDF) which is kiln dried to an 8% moisture content. The bars are 1˝ inches deep and specially designed to ensure that the canvas does not develop an imprint or ‘ghost impression’ from the frame.
Ultra-chrome inks and a 7-colour ink system, optimises the print density and the penetrating pigment inks are engineered to deliver incredible print quality and colour brilliance rivalling that of dye based inks, with a light fastness rating of up to 82 years.
