Two miles northwest Of the historic Regatta town of Henley-on-Thames, in an area of outstanding natural beauty and on the edge of the Chilterns lies The Rainbow Inn, Middle Assendon.
This pretty 17th century public house offers typical fare found in a traditional country pub with warm friendly service, home cooked food, well kept real ales and good sensibly priced wines.
There are attractive gardens with wonderful views to enjoy in the Summer months and cosy warm bars to relax in during the Winter.

The Rainbow is owned by Curly and Jean Chandler who have been involved in the Pub industry for many years. Curly is your host in the Bar while Jean heads up the team in the Kitchen.

The Rainbow offers a selection of Real Ale, Lagers and wines as well as an enticing menu featuring locally sourced produce.

If you are looking for a traditional village pub that hasn't gone gastro, then the Rainbow is a must!! Great landlord and landlady team, a real community village spirit.....and the fish pie is legendary. In the winter, the tuscan bean soup is a meal in itself!! If you are in the Henley area, make the effort to go and visit this jewel from the past!!

We had lunch in this pub & everything about our experience was very pleasurable. There was a good selection of traditional pub fare on the menu & vegetarians are also well catered for. We had the homemade stilton & broccoli tart which was delicious as were the chips. The condiments came in pots - no ghastly little sachets here. A great place.

A great place to visit after a walk in the Chilterns. Warm welcome, good food and a friendly pub dog to add to the fun.

I lead a walk in the area on sunday 16th jan and after we went in to the pub and asked if they had a table for three we were told they would find room somewhere for us,which they did straight away. The staff were very friendly and the food arived at the table 15mins after we ordered. It was one of the best roast dinners i have ate in a long time and for less than £10.
