Stuart Sorensen qualified as a mental health nurse in 1995. He holds a Diploma in Nursing Studies, a Diploma in Counselling and a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychosocial Interventions. He has worked with a wide variety of service-users in many different settings. This real world experience brings a refreshing and practical flavour to his training courses.

As a trainer Stuart is keen to help staff ‘at the coalface’ to find a balance between the conflicting (and seemingly impossible) rights of workers, carers and service-users.

As well as a raft of housing and social care related courses such as 'Adult Protection', 'Therapeutic Risk Management' and 'Lone Working and Personal Safety', Stuart offers specialist training in research based mental health topics. These include training around working with people diagnosed with serious and enduring mental disorders, those with personality disorders, recovery from schizophrenia and deliberate self harm.

Increasingly Stuart has developed training around the legal framework governing health and social care in UK and regularly delivers training on duty of care and specific relevant legislation throughout mainland Britain. He also delivers seminars and conference presentations on a range of mental health and social care related topics. Training is tailored to the needs of the organisation, from government departments to individual care providers, taking into account the different levels of training and responsibility of the participants.

Stuart's clients know that the person delivering the course is the same person who researched and designed it - not an executive with a script.
