T.Reid Chimney Sweep - Chimney SweepT. Reid Chimney Sweeps is a small family business that has been sweeping chimneys in the Kilmarnock and surrounding areas for over 40 years.
T. Reid Chimney Sweeps supplies and fits all types of gas fire caps, chimney cowls and bird cages. Occasionally, gutter cleaning, roof and chimney stack repair work and birds nest removals are undertaken.
As the fireplace is sealed before sweeping commences the only possibility of any mess is if the fireplace is incorrectly fitted causing some gaps around it where soot may escape from. Unfortunately there is not much can be done about this but if the customer already knows about the problem they may try stuffing papers in the cracks and / or cello taping them. This is a rare occurrence and 99% of jobs undertaken are completely mess free. Sweeps do not carry dust sheets due to impracticality but most customers run a trail of news papers or old blankets from the entrance of the house to the fire-place.
In rare occasions some even remove furniture from the room and / or cover everything with papers but this is entirely optional.
The customer should ensure the fire-place is free from ashes and debris as this will damage the filters in the vacuum machine.
Finally, occasionally the machine will fill and need to be emptied this is usually done in a compost heap or similar place but if there is none available a heavy bin bag will suffice.
