1.0 out of 5 | I tried to find an alternative to paying high street glasses and found these cowboys! Freddy Templeman (owner) talked me into spending more on the lenses to get special thin ones that were ordered in from Japan and when they arrived the finish was shocking. The lenses may have been thinner but the way they had been put into the frames left a lot to be desired. My special, expensive (£260) thin lenses were about 3 times as thick as the cheaper ones I currently wear. I found out (from a high street optician) that this was due to the lenses not being "knife-edged" in the finishing which completely negated any benefit gained by expensive "thin" lenses. Naturally, I returned the glasses immediately and requested that a full refund be paid. Mr Templemans 100% satisfaction guaranteed or a no quibble refund is clearly stated on his website and was verbally confirmed to me on 2 seperate occassions but unfortunately it is imaginery. His guarantee covers frames only and not any expenses he may have incurred. Put another way, I'll guarantee the things I can resell if you send them back to me! Thankfully consumer direct (the new name for the office of fair trading) have taken on the complaint and have assured me that they will get me a refund however it is still incredibly inconvenient that online sellers don't care about there customers. My wife, 2 children and I all wear specs and as such we spend a lot per year on new glasses. I can assure you that we will not be spending any further money with this company and strongly urge anyone considering it to look elsewhere. It really isn't worth the hassle involved with this company just to save a few quid! Jim Bone reviewed Spectacles.gb Rayleigh Ltd on 8 Apr 2009 |
| | Company Response : I spoke to Mr Bone about his glasses, prior to ordering, and warned him that the frames that he had picked were on the large side for the prescription that he needs to wear. Mr Bone's prescription is extremely strong and even though we ordered the thinnest lenses we could for him, because of the frame he picked they still came out quite thicker then Mr Bone expected. Our aim in receiving any order is to ensure that we try and get the best results we can for our clients, but when you deal with a patient over the phone, the advice we give is limited. We have no sight of their existing eyewear and try and be as honest as possible in the advice we give. Unfortunately Mr Bone choose a frame that in our aponion was not suitable for the prescription he currently wears. |
