This is a fast, flexible, reliable and friendly service. The business reads any kind of text, checking for spelling and grammatical errors and advising on sentence structure and document layout. Their experience is primarily with reading theses and dissertations for postgraduate overseas students but they are also very happy and able to read articles, blogs and other web content, books, research proposals, CVs and covering letters for job applications.
The services offered provide peace of mind that there are no errors which may lower academic grades, put off potential employers or detract from creativity. As work is sent and received by email and secure online payment facilities are provided, they are able to help anyone with their work in English, wherever they are based.
Three levels of service are offered:
- Basic proofreading will check for spelling errors, which can slip through in anyone's writing.
- Light editing adds small changes to sentence and grammar structure to this.
- Heavy editing provides both of the above and adds more active editing of the text and reworking of the work's structure. This service is particularly popular with people who have English as a second language.
These services are primarily aimed at students, authors and job seekers but approaches from publishers and others with an interest in this kind or service are welcome.
This is a business run by a motivated and hard-working self-employed individual with 3 years' experience of proofreading and editing many different kinds of text. Much of this was in previous employment as a librarian and Assistant Editor for a professional journal, as well as through voluntary work. Being self-employed allows for the provision of a high level of flexibility and personal service. The business owner has also received training in proofreading, so is aware of how professional proofreading and the publishing industry work.
