Paul Sand Singing Lessons - Music Tutor

With over 20 years experience in the music business, theatre and TV, Paul Sand Singing Lessons is an established service, offering private singing lessons, voice coaching, piano, keyboards, composition and theory tuition to individuals throughout the local area. Established in the 1970s, Sand Studio is now based in Brighton. Paul Sand offers a modern, friendly and practical approach to technique, performance and confidence. All styles of music are catered for. Lessons are geared to each student's specific needs and preferences. Beginners are welcome.

Singing lessons include vocal technique, overcoming any particular problems which the student may face. Other elements may include improvisation, sight-singing, microphone technique, studio and performance skills. Students are guided towards relaxation, confidence and creativity. All lessons are flexible and tailored to the individual.

Paul Sand teaches piano and keyboard skills to young people and adults. Some are just starting out, some need to brush up their skills, others are advanced. Lessons may be classically-based, or creative (conjoined with composition or song-writing), or may involve improvisation. Some students are interested in rock, pop or dance music. Whereas basic keyboard technique is common to all, lessons may be very different, depending upon the individual’s interests.

Composition lessons may include any and all styles (western classical heritage, world music, jazz, soul, pop, dance, etc. ) with a view to working in any and all media (movie or TV soundtracks, musical or opera scores, songs - lyrics, melodies, arrangements, etc. ). It may include working with music software, orchestration, demo recordings. Each lesson is designed specifically for each individual and potential students should first call to discuss their needs. Paul Sand also teaches comosition, song-writing and theory of music to young people and beginners. Trained at Trinity College of Music, London, Paul Sand began as actor and musician in Alan Bennett's '40 Years On' (Apollo, Shaftesbury Ave), was singer, songwriter and musician with various bands (The Hi-Tones, China Red, etc. ), founded Theatre Soundtracks in 1978 and has written over 30 professional musicals and operas ('La Dolce Vita', Lyric Hammersmith; 'Out Of The Blue' for the West End, 'Shameless' for Opera Circus, etc. ). He is also composer and arranger for TV, film, adverts and radio. As a teacher, Paul Sand has been vocal coach to finals students at the Weber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, and Head of Music at Michael Hall, the Rudolph Steiner school in East Sussex. He has also coached actors, singers and musicians privately for over twenty years. Sand Studio includes piano, microphones, PA, music software and recording facilities. Thanks to Paul's training, I am now able to sing songs that I would have never thought possible.

Paul Sand has not only improved my vocal ability, but as a result of his vast experience in the music industry, has guided me with regards to composing, performing and promoting myself as a musician.
