As well as high quality legal expertise, many members of No5 Chambers have directly relevant experience outside the law. The Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Groups, for example, include doctors, a former neurosurgeon and others with experience in the health profession before being called to the Bar. The Commercial and Chancery Group is known for its tight-knit team of specialists who work on a range of areas including professional negligence, company law, banking, insolvency and commercial and trust litigation.

The Criminal Law Group offers experience in all of the traditional areas of practice, and deals with all types of economic, regulatory and corporate crime, acting on behalf of both the prosecution and defence at all levels.

The Family Group's committed specialist practitioners have a wide range and depth of experience and aim to progress cases efficiently to lessen financial and emotional strain for the client.

Members of the Planning and Public Law Group have been involved in some of the largest and most controversial proposals considered at public enquiries, including proposals for new ports, new settlements and major retail and business developments.

Primarily led by European influences, employment is also an area of constant change and new legislation has a direct impact on businesses and employees. The Employment Group has a strong reputation for providing advice and representation to both employers and employees.

The Clinical Negligence Group is widely recognised for its exceptional combination of legal and clinical expertise, with several members having studied and worked in the clinical world.

The Personal Injury Group provides reliable, commercially sound advice and effective representation at all levels of litigation. The group is led by the Head of Chambers Ralph Lewis QC and covers work throughout the UK aided by the fact that it is Chambers’ largest practice group.

Combining the experience of members across No5's practice groups, Chambers' Regulatory Group provides advice and advocacy expertise, in relation to regulatory criminal work, all types of enforcement proceedings and those involving the regulation of the professions. Members specialise in health and safety, food and drugs, licensing, trading standards and consumer protection.

Similarly Chambers' Industrial Disease Group has developed expertise across the spectrum of industrial work. The strong industrial heritage in the West Midlands has allowed specialists to gain a keen understanding through the subsequent breadth of litigation relating to asbestos-related claims, asthma and occupational stress among others.

In response to the needs of the farming industry, the Agriculture Group provides barristers who have close links with the agricultural community and advises on many complex areas in one of the most contentious areas of law at present.
