Newson Academyof Performing Arts - Stage School

Newson Academy opened April 2007. Runs weekly drama classes for children from 3 years to adults at St john's church hall, West Byfleet. A small and independent drama school, where the emphasis is on confidence, communication skills and allowing creative imagination to be opened through drama.

The Academy also offers:
-audition coaching for drama school entry
-private speech and drama lessons
-LAMDA examinations in acting, musical theatre
-speaking of verse and prose,
-drama workshops to schools, businesses and uniformed organisations,
- school holiday workshops.

Run by Jo Anne Newson a local professional actress and singer, with enhanced CRB clearance, also working as a drama teacher and workshop leader. A full member of Society of Teachers of Speech and Drama plus Equity. The owner has great experience of teaching, directing and running drama workshops. The Academy currently has 2 members of teaching staff both experienced and qualified to degree level.

Newson Academy - located in West Byfleet, with students attending from Byfleet, New Haw, Woodham and Woking. The long term pan is to open a branch in Byfleet Sept 2008 and Sheerwater.
Looking for budding adult actors to start an adult class on a different night.

Also offering Nursery classes to local nursery's and playgroups.

Newson academy offers: drama classes
Thursdays
3. 45pm to 4. 45pm for 6 to 9 year old
5. 00pm to 6. 30pm for 10 to 14 year old.
6. 30pm to 7. 30pm Musical Theatre Singing Class.

LAMDA Examinations in Acting, Devised Performance, Mime, Musical Theatre, Reading for Performance, Speaking of Verse and Prose are incorporated into weekly classes.

Saturdays
9. 15 to 10. 00 Drama Class 3 to 5 years.
10am to 11. 00am Show Rehearsal class 6 to 9 yes
11. 00am to 12. 00 show rehearsal class 10 to 14 years.
Private LAMDA lessons 12. 30 to 2. 30pm half hour or hourly.
