I would definitely recommend Mutual to anyone learning to drive/planning to take their test. I did an intensive course with a different school - and didn't pass. I then opted for lessons with Mutual, and passed the first test I did with them. My instructor (Dave) was great, very patient and helpful. I also loved that I could have lessons for an hour before I started work in the morning, as I don't get out of the office at a fixed time every day. Great school, definitely recommend.

The pay-as-you-go concept behind Mutual first attracted me to it and in the long run it guarantees a certain level of service and standard of tuition because they can't fall back on a large up-front payment. This should be reassuring, but sure reassurance isn't really needed. I was a late learner and Mutual's instructors steered me through the learning to drive process with professionalism and skill. The instructors are excellent and they got me through my test, but more importantly they did not teach to the test and I feel a confident, competent driver because of them. I would highly recommend the school to others.

Dear Sam at Mutual.
I wanted to take the time to thank you for sorting my driving lessons for me and arranging my early test date as promised.
I came to hear about Mutual Driving School through reading reviews like the one im writing now, so thought it would be fitting to leave a review myself. I had a very tight deadline and needed to pass my driving test within 4 weeks, this was due to work commitments and travel. The owner Sam was very helpful and promised me that he could get me a test date within the 4 week period. After having my initial assesment lesson i felt very comfortable and knew i was with a driving school that would deliver what they promised. My Instructor was very helpful and explained things very clearly and really made me feel at ease. I have to say that after experiencing only a few weeks at Mutual Driving School they certainly deliver what they promise, i could not be any happier. Thanks again to Sam and I hope you received my Thank You card.

Either I was really unlucky or the reviews I've found online were written by Mutual instead of actual customers.

I had learnt to drive quite a few years ago, but never got round to taking my driving exam. Last year I decided to pursue it. After 12 hours with Leslie I decided to discontinue my lessons only 20 days before my exam due to seriously unprofessional behaviour both on the part of the school and the instructor, who seemed to be more interested in checking his Facebook account on his mobile than on teaching me how to drive properly. However, the worst was still to come. When I went to the exam I discovered an endless list of essential things that had never been mentioned during my lessons. I'd never heard of:

- Emergency stops
- Reverse bay parking
- Show me tell me questions
- How to hold the steering wheel correctly
- How to apply the handbrake correctly - I was never told you are supposed to apply the handbrake whenever the car is stationary

... and I was NEVER taken to Barking, where I booked my exam.

My instructor would just let me drive along, never correcting any of my had habits, whilst charging me £25 an hour. I've learnt more for a £5 DVD that I bought from Amazon than from £300 worth of lessons with Leslie.

Mutual Driving School were EXCELLENT !!! I passed first time with my instructor Leslie within 7 months of driving. Leslie was very patient when I made a mistake and went onto making me become a very confident driver on the road. 3 other family members have also passed with Mutual and on behalf them and me i would like to say MEGA THANK YOU to Leslie and Dave. Oh and thanks to Sam for being very understanding with my constant last minute changes. I would recommend Mutual Driving School to anyone, and grab Leslie as soon as you can because he is a very busy man!

I wanted to pass my test very quickly as I was soon to be starting a new job which I would need a driving lisence. I only had driven before on few occasions, so I was not very confident to begin with but I was willing to work hard. I phoned Mutual Driving School who arranged for me a 2 hour assessment lesson after the 1st lesson they booked me 3 or 4 lessons more each week and soon I was ready for my driving test. I then pass the test 1st attempt, surprising even myself. Mutual was very helpful, from the office when I needed to change my lesson due to my busy life style, and also of course the instructor clifford who filled me with confidence to pass my teast and I would like to say a big thank you to all at Mutual. I would recommend them without a doubt to anyone looking for pass driving test.

Hi, I recently moved to the country from Turkey and wanted some experience driving in the uk.
I took some lessons with mutual driving school and they was very very good and most importantly very patient. Its very hard when you are looking for a driving school and this one was given to me by a flatmate who had passed with then. mutual driving school was very fair in terms of prices and they were nice people to talk to in the office, infact i worked local so used to go in to see them and sometimes just have a chat about my driving. Anyway thanks Mutual for your help and i will be sending my brother in soon as he is nearly 17 and ready to learn to drive. Thanks Mesut

I had driving lessons with Mutual Driving School in January 2008 and passed my driving test second time round. I had taken lots of lessons with another driving school and was not learning want i should have been. I have to say that even though Mutual Driving School are more expensive than some schools, they are worth every penny.
My Instructor was very friendly and i would recommened him to anyone (his name is Russell)
