Martina Hinds Bowen Technique - Bowen TechniqueThe Bowen Technique is a soft tissue therapy which encourages the body to self-heal without using manipulation. The therapist uses fingers and thumbs to move over specific muscles, ligaments and fascia. The work is very subtle, relaxing and gentle involving no hard or prolonged pressure. The Bowen Technique is very versatile in its applications.
The clinic is located in Houghton-Le-Spring, Tyne and Wear (between Sunderland and Durham), and is easily accessible by road or public transport. Home visits are available to housebound clients only, within a 10 mile radius.
Martina is a practitioner of The Bowen Technique. She trained under Paula Esson ECBS (European College of Bowen Studies). Final level assessment was taken with Julian Baker ECBS. Martina also has a Degree in Computing and an Adult Education Teaching Qualification.
Martina feels very passionate when practising The Bowen Technique and this enthusiasm is noted by many clients.
Treatments are performed through light clothing. The client will lie on a therapy couch. Clients unable to lie down can be treated sitting in a chair or standing.
Treatments address the body as a whole rather than focus on a specific health issue or problem.
During a treatment, the therapist will perform a set of moves and then leave the room to allow the client to rest. Rest breaks are a key feature of The Bowen Technique. Breaks allow the body the opportunity to create a decision about what action needs to be taken in response to the moves given.
Martina has a growing client base, in and around Houghton Le Spring. Ages range from new born babies presenting with Infant Colic type symptoms to a 74 year old lady suffering falls as a result of Bunions and Hammer Toes.
