Essex Mums provides a place on the web for Mums and Dads to share information, experiences and stories of life as a parent in Essex and to find out what's happening near them: whether it is to find out what's going on, read opinions about which toddler group to attend, help one another out or just have a natter about their days.
The forum was started in March 2008 and has over 1100 members. There is a searchable map which provides information about what is going on nearby, calendars of classes and events, and a blog where parents can write articles of interest to other parents.
Whatever someone needs to know about family life in Essex, Essex Mums can provide. For owners of groups, event or classes, listing on the forum, map and calendar is free but ads are available for bigger impact.
Essex Mums has a large and ever increasing network of parents, based throughout the Essex area, including mums, dads, grandparents and parents-to-be.
The website is run by Louise Ford who has been interested in the online communities sector for many years. Having previously worked for Cision and RBI, Louise Ford is more than able to manage the community.

| 3.75 3.7 out of 5 - I find your approach very friendly. I would say though that in Children's Centres we work very hard to include dads in their children's lives. So please consider changing the name at some point. Words are powerful ways of including or excluding people - so please make it clear that you see dads as equally important to their children's welfare.

| 5.05 5.0 out of 5 - Essex Mums is a great site. Not only can I find information to assist me in parenting my son. I have made lots of genuine friends through the meets that the members of the forum arrange. I also advertise my small business through the site and within a week of my ad going live had gained enough business to fund the ad and made a small profit.

| 5.05 5.0 out of 5 - I used to feel very lonely being a stay at home mum but since joining the site I feel part of a community which has welcomed me fully and happy about myself. Everyone on the site goes out of their way to help you and assist you on the site and also to meet other people and to find out information. It is excellent as it is locally based to the county and is a vital place for me to visit on a regular basis.
