2.0 out of 5 | Dave Carr undertook some wallpaper stripping for me in Nottingham. At the time I felt Dave had provided a good service and had been a good person to deal with. However, some ceilings were left unstripped and I felt there was an issue with this following the 'completion' of the work. I brought this up with Dave via email and received a very unprofessional email response. I am not saying that Dave didn't do an OK job overall, just that he perhaps wasn't as professional as I first thought and I would not use his services again. I am sure that if you had no cause to question any part of the service, which you may not, then it would be fine. Houseowner, Notts - 26 Jul 2008 | | | Company Response : I sorry to say that this customer has bought a property that has a great deal of problems, and being first time buyers I think they under estimated what was entailed.
Just a few notes on this review.
1. This was a 1920's building of poor structural integrity, bought at auction without a survey. As a result many ceilings and walls were unsound and needed to be removed in order to make safe.
2. The ceilings were left un-stripped and UNCHARGED for, due to them being unsafe and unsound and as a result they needed replacing. This was discussed with the customer in person and in writing via email before completion of works. At no time was this a problem with the customer.
3. The customer was given a variety of options for re-plastering their property by professional plasterers with combined experience of over 40 years. Each of them stated that the ceilings needed to be removed. The customer has chosen to ignore this advice and re-skimmed ceilings that have a great deal of movement, badly cracked and genuinely unsafe, in a bid to save short term costs.
4. Customer did not pay on time and had to be chased in order to receive payment.
5. The customer was given a time and date when the work would be completed. They chose not to turn up and go through the work; probably to stall payment which they did.
6. The price charged, was less than quoted.
In conclusion, I only charged for what work was undertaken. It would be poor business practice to charge for stripping ceiling paper on ceilings which needed to be removed.
