4.3 out of 5 | I had a Seagate Barracuda SATA2 500Gb HDD running Vista Ultimate 64 which after a month of use decided to simply stop working. Although you could hear it spin up the drive just would not be recognised by any BIOS or OS.
I openly admit that it was my own fault files were on there that should have been backed up but it's a lesson learnt as far as I'm concerned.
I initially sent my faulty drive off to a data recovery specialist based in London with a no fix no fee agreement. After two weeks they said they couldn't do anything more via software means and expecteded me to give them £250 just to order parts for a hardware solution that at best had a 60% success rate and I'd get charged onwards of another £250 after that if they did recover anything....so I got them to send me the drive back and called Dataclinic.
Ok, Dataclinic is a professional company and you will pay top rates for recovery BUT they are totally up front regarding costs from the very first call you make to them, they keep you informed all the way and can be trusted with your data.
The other company told me the drive had several hardware faults, possibly due to a power surge and the chances are my files were completely lost. After 4 days with Dataclinic I was contacted my one of their engineers who sent me an email showing me what they were able to recover....it was everything on my drive and when I authorised them to go ahead with the recovery they put it all on a new Seagate Barracuda SATA2 500Gb HDD and sent it back to me the next day.
As I said these guy's are not cheap, true professional companies like this won't be but they are the real deal and I recommend them to all. After all, you can't really put a price on memories can you.Kevin Vaughan reviewed Data Clinic Ltd on 4 Feb 2009 |
