Dartmoor Motorcycle Training and Services (DMCTS) is a friendly partnership offering motorcycle and scooter/moped training (CBT to DAS or A2) to clients throughout the local areas of West Devon and East Cornwall. The authorised training body (ATB) DMCTS, is based in Tavistock, and was set-up in 2007 with instructors who between them have many years' experience within the motorcycling sector. Both hold the driving standards agency (DSA) approval to conduct compulsory basic training (CBT) and take students on to their full practical riding test, or beyond.

All training can be set to the pace of the trainee, whose safety is the prime concern.

Dartmoor Motorcycle Training and Services welcomes all persons wishing to discover the pleasure of riding a 'powered two wheeler' be it scooter, small motorcycle or larger mounts.

Close working relationships have been formed with Devon Wheels 2 Work / 2 Learn, helping persons who need mobility to get to work or college.
They refer many of their clients to Dartmoor Motorcycle Training because they know the standards are as high as their own.

Dartmoor Motorcycle Training seeks the accolade of its clients by their personal referral of friends and family, and word of mouth.

The aim of Dartmoor Motorcycle Training is to encourage full enjoyment of the machine and the road ridden on, whilst maintaining the highest level of safety for themselves and other road users.

The training school is managed by Mike who has been involved in motorbike training for almost a decade.
Mike previously worked for a broad range of companies. Such as IT networking manufacturers and even a high street bank.
Dartmoor Motorcycle Training are open to new ideas and methods to enhance the trainee experience and to make learning easier.

Trainers Mike and David both hold DSA approval for the courses they lead. Additional quality standards are monitored by 'observed' sessions with each other or DSA regional managers.
In 2011 further training of the instructors will include CPD (Continuous Personal Development) thanks to Devon CC Highways Department.

Dartmoor M/C Training supplies various courses, including CBT A2 DAS Improver, Advanced and Back to Biking. All courses are tailored to suit clients and their rate of learning.
CBT is available to all over 16 years old. (16 year olds are limited to a moped).
DAS is only for persons over 21 year old.
A2 is open to anyone over 17 years old.

I did my cbt today with mike such a lovely man easy to get a long with gives you lots of support and makes it as enjoyable day highly recommended.

I did my CBT with Mike and found their service exceptional. I started as a complete novice been on the back of a bike once and been shown the controls over half an hour a few weeks before so I kinda knew what to expect. I was terrified (but is only way to afford transport! but had heard so many horror stories from my Gran!) but with Mikes help and calm attitude he got me on the bike, learning the controls quickly! Once we were on the road I started to loose my nerve a bit and after a cuppa in the local cafe we both agreed that I should come back a couple of days later to complete it, this made the world of difference as needed a chance to absorb it all (showing real care in the tutors needs!)I am now riding my bike with alot more confidence than I ever thought I would have (excluding the ruddy oil spill on the road making me go into a hedge! But a car and BUS went off in the same place so council was rung very quickly to get it cleared!) have not come off or felt I have been a danger to other road users or in danger from them!

I Reccomend these guys to anyone, novice or not, the CBT was made fun, they are understanding and tutor to the individuals needs in a calm relaxed atmosphere without loosing any of the quality of training, and keep safety to the highest level! Even with a wobbly terrified (at the start) student!! (also bikes are kept in great condition which is always a good thing, add them on facebook if you need any after advice and they seem happy to help!)
Once again reccomend them to anyone to secure that more new bikers are kept as safe as I was Thanks Mike :)

I found the CBT course excellent. Great secure area for the morning practise sessions. The instructors are very knowledgeable and very encouraging when you make mistakes. They help you understand bike safety and teach bike handling. They have some great one liners that make learning points very clear, are humours and build confidence. The on the road test around Tavistock area was great fun. Well done for getting me through– I will come back for my full bike licence training!! Thanks Mike & Dave

I found that Mike helped me massively with both confidence and skill when it comes to riding a bike. When I started, I was terrible but after the amazing coaching and help from Mike, my confidence grew and I managed to complete my CBT. I cannot say how much I recommend him as there is not a word that describes him and his teaching. Definitely highly recommended!!

What can i say?

Well i passed my CBT with Mike on the 2nd of november.

The atmosphere was relaxed and i was made to feel at complete ease, especially having not ever been on a bike before. I completed my CBT on a geared bike and i loved every minute. The training is very well structured and really makes you want to go back for more.

Mike is a very approachable, down to earth guy who will tailor each session to meet YOUR needs.

Thanks Mike for a wonderful experience, i will be seeing you soon.

I did both my CBT and then a year later my direct access with Mike. As a nervous female beginner I wanted to train with someone who would be calm and patient which I found Mike to be. However, he also pushed my boundaries to get me to the best standard which means I passed with no faults. I'm now delighted to be a confident fully fledged rider with Mike's enduring advice still ringing in my ears keeping me safe!! ...thanks Mike.

Mike provides thorough, progressive training that really prepares the student for the motorcycle tests as well as life after passing. The tutelage is friendly and easy going, but with an eye on forming a safe motorcyclist at the end of the process.
