5.0 out of 5 | I’m a well-traveled businessman in my late 50s from Florida, USA. I travel internationally at least a half a dozen times a year. My wife frequently joins me on trips. Our daughter is married and lives in England. This past Christmas through New Years we visited her. Within the span of our visit with her, as planned, I needed to be in Athens, Greece, for five days. Let me share with you, that over many years, I learned that it is best to set up all the travel arrangements in advance and pay for them ahead of time. A barometer of trustworthiness and an indication of a company’s quality to deliver on what they promise I measure based on email communications and reviews. I personally correspond with at least four cab companies by email before I make my choice, as I did in this case before choosing Chawton Cabs. I never gamble on catching a cab to and from the airport when distance is involved and when making a flight on time is at stake. I do not strive for the lowest price, either, and I do not negotiate to get a better deal. It is simply honest and fairly priced service that I seek. I highly recommend Chawton Cabs. This is a five-star company in all regards. My experience with them began well before my arrival to England. Adam, Hugo’s son, set the tone of the company by replying quickly to my emails. He writes intelligently besides. In advance, by at least several weeks, we arranged and I paid for four trips between our daughter’s home (south of Winchester) and both airports: Gatewick (coming and going from Florida) and Heathrow (coming and going from her house to Athens). It was flawless. Our driver, Andy, was the same driver for each of these four long trips. The greatest compliment I can pay another businessman is knowledge of what I require, not what I ask for. Chawton Cabs, yes, on the surface, agreed to transport us back and forth to the airports. But Andy internalized that what we also needed was to get to the airports with time to spare to catch our flights and to be greeted the instant we cleared the baggage area. Andy was perfectly right. Thanks to him there was no strain or stress coming or going. Additionally, for New Years Eve, our daughter planned a party at a restaurant in Winchester. The guests, including her and her husband, felt it best not to drive to or from the site. Before I even arrived to England for these four major transports, Adam and I arranged for yet another trip that would take care of transporting seven of us to and from our daughter’s home and the place of the party. For this late-night fare Hugo drove (7 p.m. to 2 a.m.). It too was flawless. Getting to know him, as we all did, as we traveled back and forth, it is easy to understand why this company is one of the finest companies I’ve ever had the pleasure to employ and rely on (be it cab or other). From beginning to end, start to finish my experience with Chawton was perfect. You can rely on them. You can pay in advance with confidence.
