Based in Talsarn (8 miles from Lampeter, 16 miles from Aberystwyth), Bitless Bridle Equestrian Centre provides natural horsemanship tuition as well as iron-free hacking and pub rides on bitless horses to clients throughout Ceredigion and beyond. The training manager, Rosemary Carrington-Rogers BHSAI, has been involved with horses for many years and is just as happy teaching complete novices as experienced horseriders.

With indoor and outdoor facilities and friendly, fully qualified staff, the Bitless Bridle Equestrian Centre delivers professional natural horsemanship tuition to tourists and locals alike. The experience is designed to be rewarding and fun, helping clients to communicate with horses and enjoy the local scenery from horseback.

Consisting of friendly and experienced staff combined with happy, friendly, naturally-kept bitless horses, the natural horsemanship experiences supplied by the Bitless Bridle Equestrian Centre are ideal for eveyone to enjoy. Available all year round, the tuition, hacks and pub rides are tailored to individual needs and are ideal for beginners, nervous riders and experienced horseriders alike.

The Centre is managed by Sheila Lee Thompson who has been involved with horses since childhood. Sheila is more than able to look after the Centre, having previously run a successful dog boarding, breeding, showing and training kennels in Staffordshire for many years following a successful career as a PA (prior to having a family).

The Training Manager, Rosemary Carrington-Rogers, also has a lifelong involvement with horses and after gaining her BHSAI certificate and working in a large riding school in Windsor went on to study 'natural horsemanship' with Faris Collins BHSI. Faris' vast experience with horses ranges from being Chief Instructor of the Singapore Equestrian team to freelance instructor and trainer to stuntmen and women on films such as 'Sharpe’s Rifles' and 'Braveheart'.

Rosemary’s introduction to horse psychology and how to communicate with the horse through body language left a strong, lasting impression on me. The horses were so calm, happy and responsive – willingly participating without being forced or coerced. They were absolute proof that this is a far better approach than the traditional one. I have never been happy about the use of the bit and now I’ve finally found a way to ride without that guilt. Sheila and Rosemary were very welcoming and the whole atmosphere was very friendly. Huge thanks to you both.

I Had a Really Good Time At Bitless Bridles and everyone was really friendly and nice to me. I learnt more in 2 days than i did in 2 years elsewhere. All the people there made me comfortable and safe. Also Everyone talked me through what we were going to do that day. I was really happy there and i would defiantly go again.

When approaching the riding stables my first thought was this doesn't look like any riding stables I've been to before. It didn't have a swanky office or a super wooden barn but what it did have was a love of horses and the environment. These guys certainly put their horses first, they were all loved and extremely well-cared for. Shelia and Rosemary were friendly, welcoming and very funny to be around. Their knowledge on natural horsemanship was amazing yet they had a real down to earth approach. If I was a horse this is the place where I would like to stay.

I was a nervous rider with a difficult horse. I never dreamt I would ever be jumping with him; but I am now. We are both so much improved since we started at Bitless Bridles. All the horses are great confidence givers and the instructor is excellent, she makes every lesson challenging, without being too scary for either horse or rider.
The location is stunning and hacking out is a pleasure.
The shop has a varied selection of horse related goodies, with a knowledgeable staff on hand to advise on all aspects of natural horsemanship.

I was a complete nervous wreck (due to a previous accident), when I first went to the stables. Now I can ride again!
Honestly cannot praise them high enough. They do exactly what they say, but without any fuss or pressure!
