Company Profile
Based in Welwyn Garden City, the Barn Theatre stages 10 productions per year to the general public throughout the area. Newcomers to the Barn are usually impressed by two things: the quality of the productions, and the astonishing transformation of a 17th century farm building into a modern well-equipped theatre. The ancient huge timbers of this listed building house a 139-seat raked auditorium and a recently refurbished cosy Club Room Bar.
Over the years The Barn Theatre Trust has achieved a high reputation, regularly winning festivals and attracting some of the best local talents. It also has an enviable record of attracting high volume audiences.
The theatre is owned by The Barn Theatre Trust Ltd, a non-profit charity which is represented by an elected council within the membership.
The Barn Theatre has a large membership who come from all around the Hertfordshire area and beyond. New members are always welcome.
Members of the Barn Theatre received the club magazine, Barn News, free every month. It gives full information on special events, club evenings, play readings, theatre outings, parties and other social events as well as details of auditions which are to be held for the plays in the forthcoming season.
Auditions are open to the general public, but if selected for a role an auditionee would have to join the Barn Theatre Club. Those who prefer to take a backstage role in helping with the staging, simply volunteer their services to the Director, Stage Manager or Productions Secretary of each production, though they are also welcome at auditions.
Members receive first-night discounts (except for the Christmas play)
