Amba nature - Fair Trade GiftAmba nature started up in 2003 to contribute towards lessening poverty and improving lives in The Philippines by providing producer groups with access to the UK market.
They work directly with producers and import, retail and supply fairly and ethically traded products including beautiful and stylish fair trade homeware, jewellery and fashion accessories.
Accredited as a fair trade supplier to the British Association For Fair Trade Shops (BAFTS) since 2004.
Their store is located in Leigh On Sea and their products can be ordered online easily and securely. They also offer trade terms to high street and internet retail outlets.
Homeware from bariw leaves, used for coarse mats and baskets, and forest nito vine, an easily growing climbing fern. Rich in semi-precious stones, beads and shells, their gorgeous jewellery collections are contemporary and stylish. Beautiful hand woven scarves created from pina (pineapple) fibres, and handbags and clutches in a variety of natural materials. They also stock bobbin lace coasters and doilies, fun and useful bags from recycled fruit juice bags, and lovely sinamay ribbon to perfectly compliment their accented and textured handmade paper from abaca and salago fibres (banana family).
The business is run by Michael and Iris Haley who are the founders of amba nature. Iris is from the Philippines, which makes it easy for them to visit producers in remote places to source new products.
