Ian McCabe was trained in advanced driving at the Scottish Police College Driving School, advanced motorcycling at the Lancashire Police Driving School and is a fleet trainer and advanced driving examiner, authorised by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents. He gained his City and Guilds Certificate in Vehicle Technology at Cardonald College, Glasgow.
