4.3 out of 5 | This centrally located, privately run guest house in Bridgend was a joy to find. A friend and I needed a bed for the night before taking part in a cycling event on Sunday, 15th June 08. Having left reservations too late again, I found all the generic chains fully booked and it was on the recommendation of another private establishment in Bridgend that I was put on to the Alex. The building is a striking shade of yellow but well kept and internally modernised to a degree likely to satisfy any visitor. Above all, however, the real strength of the place lies in its proprietors, Cheryl & Nigel Hollyman who could not have been more welcoming. Not for us a rigid breakfast schedule; we had to leave at 0700 to get to the start so Cheryl was in the kitchen at 0600 despite having been on a night out herself and got to her bed at 0230!
