I ordered a door off squirrel glass. It was £800 for one door. The most expensive out of all my 8 quotes but i liked the design so ordered it.

the door arrived and was fitted. The letter box was not straight by 4mm. It doesnt sound alot but it looked awful.

squirrel glass ordered us another centre panel for the door. After several weeks it turned up but the centre panel was cream and the outside of the door and the door frame where white. It looked stupid.

we rang up to speak to squirrel glass to get it sorted out and the person who works in the office swore at us (as if its our fault) then said he would sort it out. Then he rang us up and offered us £100 off the door if we accepted it as it was. We told them no way as i wouldnt want the door for free looking like it did. It was such an eye sore. So they agreed to order us a new door.

we then receive a phone call saying the rep from the door manufacturer was coming down with someone from squirrel glass to look at our centre panel so they can get a good match. They turned up at my door with samples of different white shades you can get in upvc. They asked me to choose what colour white i wanted the centre panel. I told them i wasnt choosing it was up to them to just order me a centre panel in the same shade white as the outer door and the door frame. They told me the centre panel wouldnt be the same shade as white and i would have to choose the closest shade. I refused to choose so they chose in the end and i shut the door on them.

so when my husband finished work that day we went into the office to say we werent happy with the service we were getting. We were so stressed at everything that had been going wrong. We had had two doors fitted but both were wrong. The man in the office lost his temper with us, swore at us, stormed out the shop and his brother who worked in accounts in the office had to ring the owner who also owns macdale windows.

the owner came down and ordered us a new door and the third door did come looking correct and it was fitted.

im not very impressed with the fitting though as where the door has been screwed into the door frame some of the screws are bent and not in properly. It has had brown sealent all smudged over the white uvpc door which also looks awful.

i wish we had gone to b&q and bought a new door for £300 and fitted it ourselves. I would not recommend squirrel glass or macdale windows to my worst enemy.
