I know how empowering a natural, gentle birth can be. I also know that things don’t always go as planned. I think the impact of a newborn is underestimated, as it takes time to settle down, due to the unpredictable nature of a baby. A doula can really help to create a calm and normal home environment.
The aim of a doula is to give the mother the extra support and reassurance she needs to get through the birth and the first few weeks after birth with flexibility, knowledge and encouragement. A birth doula promotes communication, offers tips for labour and encourages the father, and a postnatal doula helps at home, easing the journey to being a family. The trained doula ensures families are confident and happy. The service is intended to be supportive and relaxing every time.
Having trained with Nurturing Birth in london, Elaine Bull, from OurBabes Doula Service has been a qualified Doula from June 2007. A range of relevant certificates can be viewed on request, e. G. First aid, Food hygiene etc. The business can supply a range of natal hypnotherapy cd's that help promote a relaxed and natural birth and are designed for Mum to use regularly. Supplied to me by natal hypnotherapy, the product range includes Overcoming morning sickness cd, A range of Birth preparation cd's, relaxing birth music cd, post natal recovery cd etc. The products are available on the website, or by contacting me via phone or email, aswell as from a range of retail outlets.
