Moorgate Farm Shop - Delicatessen

Based in the grounds of Moorgate Veterinary Group in Bovey Tracey (Newton Abbot), Moorgate Farm Shop is a competent branch of the Group, passionate about offering locally reared meats, Devon made produce and freshly grown vegetables to both existing clients and local people throughout South Devon. Established in August 2007, the shop is in its early days, but as most teething problems have now been dealt with, Moorgate are increasing it's range and are always looking for new local products. Recent introductions are Quail eggs, (fresh, smoked and pickled) and home produced wool (Ashburton).

The shop is able to offer a comprehensive range of local meats, featuring lamb and beef from Widecombe, pork from Bovey Tracey, and Devon produced game pie mixes. The products stocked have been carefully sourced with the aim of supporting the local farmers and producers as much as possible and shoppers may be comfortable in the knowledge that food miles have been kept to a minimum. The products are available from the shop from Monday to Friday from 9am till 6pm (Closed between 1. 30 and 2. 30 for lunch) and Saturday mornings. Moorgate Farm Shop will be closed during the Farmers Market.

Proving very popular are the free range eggs from 'Dartmoor happy hens' and the newly introduced range of gluten free products, including cakes, breads, pies and pasties and of course the inevitable meaty sausage.
The shop has taken a responsible view and encourages the use of as little packaging as possible in the preparation of goods for resale. Employing the use of strong paper carriers and brown craft paper bags, the service is intended to have minimal impact on the environment.
