Great Aves - Volunteer Placement Company

Great Aves is a non-profit organisation that works in the UK and abroad with schools and local communities. In the UK Great Aves acts as a pro-active link between community groups and the schools and local media, increasing awareness and involvement in local activities. Overseas, Great Aves offers volunteer placements for enthusiastic people to help increase educational standards and literacy through teaching and supplying educational equipment.

Great Aves is creating an interactive online resource which will enable local residents to be kept up to date with local events and be fully informed about what activities are locally available. By working with the local media, Great Aves raises the profile of community groups through newsletters, radio and magazines.

Abroad, Great Aves runs the Arajuno Road Project in Ecuador. This project offers volunteer placements offering the opportunity to teach in the schools of the Arajuno Road and supplies educational and sporting equipment to the underfunded schools. Volunteers teach as part of a structured curriculum, with continuity and long-term benefits being key to the project.

Literacy is at the heart of what is being achieved, with the proposed creation of a mobile library supplying books to the schools of the Arajuno Road.
