This was exactly the sort of introduction I wanted and needed to start me off on some retirement 'dabbling'.....I feel I can try to 'have a go' myself with confidence. I hope to attend more of Kate's courses.

I have just spent 2 days on a Watercolour course and 1 day on an Acrylic Abstract course. I have attended several of Kate's workshops and have always found that the courses are well structured and Kate is very generous with her knowledge and very encouraging. Nothing is set in stone, new things are tried and she helps everyone to achieve.

The Art Gallery is on an interesting site and if Kate's is the style of painting you like you will be thrilled - for me they are innovative & truly a pleasure to view. Prices are varied & quite reasonable for original paintings.
As I so liked the paintings I chose a 3 day Watercolours course, Textures, Colours & Special Effects for my Christmas present. I am not a confident painter, but not a beginner. It was brilliant. 3 days of sheer pleasure. I learnt skills, amazing techniques and fun ways with which I could indulge my preference for a 'looser style'. Kate's teaching style was inclusive & clear to follow. She encouraged me in choosing more vibrant colours, persuaded me to 'go for it', showed me how to make a 'mistake' into an asset, and it was definitely a 5 star course experience. I learnt how to use interesting simplistic tools for differing texture and effects. If you do attend a course remember a notebook and do write down the learning each day.
I shall do another course but meanwhile I'll practise more confidently the skills learnt, just hope I can maintain the innovative excitement I aquired on the course days.

All of us managed to produce half a dozen paintings, most of mine need just finishing off at home, though one person went away with three completed originals. Thanks Kate.

Always a joy to go on one of Kate's courses!Individual tuition,quality painting tips,endless cups of tea,pleasant company,lovely lunches at The Hat-Trick cafe and the wonderful ambiance of Yew Tree Barn.Each day ended in a picture to be proud of,no matter what your level of experience.

I have attended Kate Bentley's drawing and painting classes and have found her to be in fact the best art teacher I have ever had. I am a professional artist myself so have experienced many teachers over the years. Kate is highly skilled, experienced and knowledgable teacher. She respects her pupils and can be honest with them at the same time as being supportive and encouraging. She is able to bring the best out of you without judging you - a rare gift in a teacher. Her own paintings are of a very high standard and she regularly wins awards.

Very helpful, i learned lots of new extremely useful techniques and tools. I now feel more confident in my art and much more able to achieve the goals i wish to succeed in. I clearly understood everything because of the way she deliverd it, it was clear, interesting and easy to understand. One of the best art teachers ive ever had, and i really enjoyed working with her.

Kate is a very patient and inspirational teacher. I have just had a one to one painting day with her and I am delighted with my results, she encourages but also gives constructive criticism. When I've practised the new techniques I've learned today I will certainly be booking another class with her.

All the classes I have attended have been excellent. Kate is patient, professional & capable, always teaching the individual - I did not think when I started that I would be any good - but now 12 months later three of my paintings are framed, Thanks to Kate I now feel confident and able to enjoy and be proud of my paintings. I have also bought one of Kate's painting, it's fabulous, a real converstaion piece - love it! kate's work is interesting, different and imaginative - a great talent.

Kate's evening classes were relaxed, informative and enjoyable, but most importantly, thanks to her encouragement and patience, I (being a novice) have achieved work I never thought I could. This includes watercolours, pastels and acrylics.

I have attended art classes and one day workshops with Kate over the past 9 years and have benefitted greatly from her classes, demonstrations and individual tuition, all of which were of a very high standard. Kate encourages students to work in their own styles whilst also helping to develop skills outside their own comfort zone. I found her an inspirational teacher and would thoroughly recommend her

Have seen Kate's work on various art trails at at her studio in the Lakes - her paintings are stunning and varied in content - portraits, figurative paintings, landscapes, still life...using real and imaginary settings and using different media. My favourites are her landscapes using deep, rich colours, we have a couple of kate's paintings and have borrowed work from time to time to hang on our walls. Would be delighted to have any of Kate's work on our walls.
