Job Overview

A position is open for a Web Developer looking to develop our web presence and our e-commerce activities.

As the Web Developer within the company, your role will be to maintain and develop all the current websites and create any new online materials and web sites as required.

All websites are built with a database back end that pulls news, product information, vacancies, press articles etc. Through to our sites. It is essential that the candidate has strong Microsoft SQL and ASP knowledge along with exposure to IIS, PHP and CSS.


Duties and Responsibilities

- Maintenance and management of existing websites
- Creation of new sites
- Developing new and improved functionality for all sites
- Checking web statistics for these sites
- Improving sites for better search engine optimisation
- Advising colleagues on any internet and web related queries
- Producing marketing materials (mailers and html pages)
- Manage the translation of our websites and content by our partners
- Support of web site infrastructure
- Replying to any emails from visitors and customers where required.
- Manage existing domain names for all Northarbour owned websites
- Buying new domain names for the company and dealing with any issues that may arise
- Monitoring / tracking the existing website performances within search engine rankings
- Finding new ways of improving website performance within search engine rankings
- Producing reports to keep managers informed of our websites online performance
- Researching better ways of monitoring our statistics
- Dealing with any issues that may arise with services that provide our web statistics


Skills / Qualifications / Experience Required

The successful candidate should have experience in maintaining several websites while working on new and ongoing projects.

They will need good communication skills as they will need to liaise both internally and externally on projects, ideas and to provide general help.

Excellent web layout skills are essential and experience of graphic design and image manipulation is necessary as you will be required to layout and construct web sites, e-mailers and other online materials.

The individual should be enthusiastic, have new ideas and be willing to take on and run with a number of existing projects and see them through to fruition with the minimum of supervision.
