Job Overview

Our client is a research-driven investment firm that is Global in its scope. Their Asset Management clients include private clients, retail investors and many types of institutions. Their client base has diverse needs, so they have developed a broad array of Global and local investment services that span geographies, asset classes, styles and objectives for risk and return.

The Client Communications team, which is responsible for all aspects of communication both internal and external, is searching for a Media Relations Officer with knowledge of the German and Italian media and fluency in English plus German and/or Italian to raise the Company’s profile in the European media and support expanding sales activity, especially in Germany and Italy. The successful candidate must be highly organised, have strong communications skills and possess deep knowledge of the pan-European media environment. Previous experience in a similar role for a Global Investment Management company is desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to media inquiries and pro-actively generating publicity for the Company and its products, either directly or working with external PR agencies, as directed by the Head of Client Communications for the EMEA region.

Typical activities:

Answering journalists’ inquiries.
Writing and distributing press releases and news articles.
Liaising with the press and broadcast media on a regular basis via telephone, email and networking monitoring media coverage.
Helping to ensure that the Company maintains the quality and quantity of its media coverage.
Working to create opportunities for placed articles and regular features.
Arranging press conferences, media interviews and visits.
Keeping up to date with internal corporate and business developments.
Generating story ideas to support sales campaigns and raise brand awareness.
Managing the media in crisis situations.

Skills / Qualifications / Experience Required

Educated to degree level.
Fluency in English plus German and/or Italian.
Knowledge of the German and Italian media.
Knowledge of Capital Markets and investments.
Several years' relevant professional experience.
Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet demanding deadlines.
Ability to quickly develop relationships and build rapport with journalists and internal business leaders/investment professionals.
Good all round communicator.
Sound judgment and strong news sense.
Creativity and ability to think laterally.
Proficiency in IT skills.

The successful candidate must be highly organised, have strong communications skills and possess deep knowledge of the pan-European media environment. Previous experience in a similar role for a Global Investment Management company is desirable.
