Job Overview

This position involves providing a high standard of cooking in a busy operation for plated private dining, banqueting, conferences and in our Brasserie and Café-Bar. You will help ensure the smooth and efficient running operation of the kitchen under the direction of the Executive Chef. Working as a member of the Catering Team, you will assist other members whenever possible to ensure that customers receive a courteous and professional service.


Duties and Responsibilities

Preparing food efficiently and contributing imaginatively to menu ideas and plans.

Ensuring the consistent practice of all operating standards and requirements in the kitchen.

To assist with the cleaning of food production areas and equipment as directed by the Executive Chef.

Liaising with the Executive Chef with regard to customer feedback, food quality, food presentation, stock levels, wastage, ordering etc.

To ensure regular positive, co-operative communication with management and staff.

To carry out any other reasonable duties as required by the Executive Chef to achieve the objectives and targets of the Kitchen operation.


Skills / Qualifications / Experience Required

You will have one years’ experience in a commercial kitchen, preferably as a commis chef. This is ideal but not necessary, as a graduate fresh out of college would be equally welcome as long as they are passionate about food and willing to be trained. Preferably you will also have comprehensive NVQ's or City and Guilds in catering, as well as training in health and hygiene and an understanding of COSHH.

The successful candidate will be hardworking with a passion for food and cooking. You should be an effective team player, and an enthusiastic all rounder who will enjoy the opportunity to be trained.
