Job Overview

The role holder manages large development projects or a portfolio. The role holder at this level exhibits strategic management and leadership skills at the highest levels and in a wide variety of contexts. Is able to understand, explain and present complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels up to board level in a persuasive and convincing manner.
• Will manage more than one team covering multiple technology disciplines.
• Reporting organisational structure typically more than 50 people.
 Leads SSDM, PM, SDA.
 Reports to Regional Business Manager.
 Influences: Service Managers, Customer (senior management level), business units.


Duties and Responsibilities

Manages large multi-disciplinary teams concerned with formulation of strategy and policy to deliver programmes of software and solution development to customers reliably and consistently.

• KPI: Policies and procedures in place, adhered to and auditable within own organisation. Inputs in to our client’s’ process and policy formation.

 Responsible for the delivery of significant areas of the customer solution.

 KPI: Development of the customer solution on time, to budget and in accordance with agreed standards.


Responsible for the choice of development methods, standards and tools to ensure that the customer solution adheres to best practice within the constraints of the development environment (e. G. Budget, resources and customer’s preferred modus operandi).

KPI: The customer solution is delivered in accordance with our client’s’ processes and policies. Selection, utilisation of and adherence to the appropriate process and policies can be demonstrated.


Advocates utilisation and evolution of Our client’s’ processes and policies.

KPI: Our client’s’ processes and policy applied throughout own organisation, our client’s’ processes and policies refreshed in line with best practice.

Responsible for determining strategy and direction for training and development for our client’s to ensure that the advancement of the Group’s IT skills are aligned with the customers’ current and future requirements.

KPI: Ensures our client’s’ skills profile meets the current and future market needs in appropriate technology disciplines.


Communicates the potential impact and exploitation of emerging technologies on organisations to stimulate potential revenue bearing opportunities.

KPI: Engages in promotion of strategic decisions on technical direction and business opportunity.

Proposes technical solutions within the scope of his / her own technical expertise to customers to ensure the quality in that area of the customer solution.

KPI: Development of quality customer software and solutions. Customer satisfaction.
 Role is balanced between service, solution delivery and customer relationship management. Is responsible for communication and engagement programme.
 Typically remains in this role or crosses into programme management or service management.
 Staff may be in a variety of technical roles and possibly some business support functions, such as finance and HR. Strong influence on business unit plans and strategies. Manages managers.
