We have an existing website, www.asking4gardening.co.uk.

We are changing the name of our business, we have the appropriate domain name, we have had a new logo designed.

We want to change the logo & banner header on our site & some of the text.

Ideally we would change the template or at least the base colour.

We know that it is a Joomla fienzie template, something that our original designer did not make clear.

We have a CMS access

We have the ongoing option to change the hosting which we currently have with the original designer.

It is important to us, that we can understand & clearly communicate with anyone who could take on, the re-design, the hosting, & future graphic adjustments / improvements, something that is sadly lacking at present.

Ideally we would meet face to face, as much is lost in text alone.

Has anyone any comments or ideas?

Many thanks

Hi Geoffery,

I've reviewed your website and my initial thoughts relating to your question "Can our website be re-designed" is:-

1. Yes your website could be re-designed.

2. However it is not clear if you want to keep the current CMS (joomla) and just make minor changes to the theme or if you want a complete re-design and would be willing to consider an alternative CMS.

3. The reason I ask is that we can support joomla but our preferred CMS is Wordpress and reviewing your website there doesn't appear to be anything on the website that couldn't be supported through Wordpress.

4. I appreciate your preference would be a design company local to you so you could meet face to face. We are in Leicestershire and we have designed and currently manage client websites across the UK and would be more than happy to discuss your requirements at no obligation.

5. As an overview:

a. If you wanted a complete re-design we would provide you with a bespoke Wordpress theme designed inhouse to your requirements and we would provide you with access to a demo server to review the design at key stages throughout the project. We would also provide you with technical documentation and phone training on how to use all relevant parts of the CMS.

b. We also offer a range of Web Management packages that include: one free domain name, hosting of the website and email accounts, daily monitoring of the website, analytical reports, yearly healthcheck, ongoing Wordpress support and security updates, and an agreed set of minor content changes per year, enabling you to focus on growing your core business

If you wish to discuss at no obligation please let me know.

In the meantime you can review our services and current portfolio at: www.pxwm.co.uk and our client feedback by checking our FreeIndex profile.

Hi Geoff

Freeindex has a tool for that.

Try this; http://www.freeindex.co.uk/getquotes.htm

Just specify that you want quotes from businesses within a certain distance.

It works very quickly. You will have responses within a few hours.

Website creation is one thing, but don't forget to optimise and promote your website. The choice of domain name is a crucial part of that. Website creation and promotion are two sides of the same coin.

Hope you find these tips useful. Smile

2. However it is not clear if you want to keep the current CMS and just make minor changes to the theme or if you want a complete re-design.

3. I appreciate your preference would be a design company local to you so you could meet face to face. Ditto above questions,

re face to face - in this age of Skype, it can be a good alternative to paying for someone to come to you!

Several business's contacted us, some were trying to sell us what they wanted to sell, & someone took time out to help us,

I wasn't looking for quotes but advice as to the possibilities.

We have to play the long game, we have to earn to spend & doing gardening we are reliant upon the vagaries of the weather.

If it rains, we don't get paid, end of.

When it rains a lot, we have to make do with what we have now & try to make the best of it.

This applies as much to our website as to our leaky work boots.

Most businesses have to sow before they can reap...

Surely you can sell your expertise and design services via your website come rain or shine. Cool
