Hi

I had a car stolen and the police found and returned the wheels only back to me. There damaged but worth quite a lot of money.

Ive had a quote to refurbish them of £560.00 can i claim from the person they seized them from?

Hello Jody,

Are the police taking this person to court (criminal prosecution)? If they are and he/she is convicted the court will probably award you compensation.

Another option is for you to take out a civil prosecution. However this will cost you money in applying + a lawyer.

Even if you are awarded compensation it is not guaranteed that this person will ever pay it. He/she is probably a career criminal and on benefits.

Your car should have been insured at least third party fire and theft. Claim off your insurance company.

Regards

Andrew

Hi

The cps said unlikeky to get a conviction so the police wouldn't take it to court. The insurance didn't pay out for the wheels as they are after market ones
