I am a freelance copywriter and am currently writing web copy for a client. My question is - does having location specific copy for multiple locations work from an SEO point of view? By this I mean various pages on the same site such as 'builder in london', 'builder in Surrey', 'builder in kent' etc, with copy the same apart from the actual location.

Is it worth it or will Google see through this trick?

Duplicated text is discounted. Better to say once: 'builder, available for contracts in London and surrounding areas including Kent, Surrey, Essex...'.

Hi Martin

The text on the page is only one small aspect of Google's algorithm, but avoid duplicate content.

The Home page is always seen as the most important content indicator for Google searches.

Other geo-specific pages would have to be heavily supported by appropriate incoming links, etc.

Forget tricks, just make those pages appropriate and geo-specific if required. Smile

Hope you find my observations useful.

just add different locations on your keywords through your webhoster or google adwords and this should work
