Today I had a call from a company pretending to be Sky Tel. 0151 422 4100 fishing for info of my sky sub' as she was asking about the equipment. If she was from sky she would have known the details period. She went on about how to safe guard your sky box and dish.  No thank you!

"what's the worse that could happen to the box - HD failure just buy a new IDE drive £40 and the dish damaged LMB buy a new one £10."

What is the real costs involved? I would say never more than £50 how do they justify trying to get £s PA for no service at all year on year based upon risk.  Have they never heard of the sale of goods act, very sad.

I'm not saying that this person was genuinely from Sky but you are responsible for any damage to your Sky equipment ie.if the dish is damaged in high winds, so there is insurance that you can buy to cover that. If you're daft enough to buy it.

I agree with the last reply, "if we are daft enough to buy it". If you experienced damage due to high winds one would simply sign another years contract as Sky would love to lock you in again. And receive free or discounted installation by Sky engineers (sub con). Or buy a new dish these costs are nothing a one off compared to the annual insurance scam.

In my dictionary insurance = scam
