I have patented an interesting new product, it is still in its concept and has been professionally designed, it involves photovoltaic application with a vast world wide potential, however being a individual I am finding it difficult to have the design manufactured to a working prototype, I feel that I need to find a investor that would show interest and help in developing a new household concept,,, any positive pointers would be appreciated

Well done on getting this far.

Whilst an investor would help, do you really need one?

It is possible, although hard, to move to the next step without giving lots of your company away!

As the item is patented, why not tell us more about the product?

Well, as mentioned, ascertain an absolute requirement for investors and decide just how much you're willing to sign over (think Dragons Den I suppose). Then consider again all the funding options but don't wreck your home finances over it.

Do a web search to find a company that makes prototypes and ask them about costs; we really don't have enough to go on! With a working prototype you're in a much stronger position to sell it.
