Looking for help with my new web site in the Stockport Area

Hi Guys n Galls.
I have recently started to build a webs site grandmiapens.com and without any previous knowledge or computer skill.I am quite proud of myself of what i have achieved so far.The problem i have is i have come to a standstill and cannot seem to get any further with the site.It needs tweaking and tidying.I kind of understand most of it,but i can not put it into the web site as i kind of not understand some of it(if you understand what i mean).SO i am looking for some kind person who could spare me a little time for tuition on a one to one basis.Or maybe someone could advise me were i could find some help.....

Have you gone into Appearance > Editor in your dashboard? Modify the php files to your need.

What are you looking to do?

I like your site, I used to use that theme.. blogolife i think it is? but that theme does not have many customisation options so you will need to learn some code. May I suggest you look at a premium theme. They usually come straight out of the box with much more menu based easy customisation.

Stefan,

My advice is to learn HTML. It is not difficult and you can do it a bit at a time and start using it on your websites. You will build your confidence and knowledge quickly and it will give you control over your website design and choice.

I was in the same position as you last year and decided to do something about it. I purchased an excellent and easy to understand book to help me and I am now quite good.

Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML by Elisabeth Freeman and Eric Freeman (Publisher - O'Reilly). I purchased it through Amazon so have a look.

Hi All Thanks for your replies.I have already learnt quite a bit in trying to build the site.This time maybe six months ago i did not understand that a host was needed to go live with a web site.As i said unfortunately i feel i have come to a stand still as i do not want to alter any codes as mentioned as i do not completely understand what i may be doing.I would appreciate it if someone could give me some help...
