I think we have a good web Site but although it attracts some 50/60 prospective customers each and every day. They don't want to buy anything.

We have made changes and more are coming.

Our Prices are competitive, we have checked.

So is our Site any good or not ?

Thanks

Hi,

I assume this is the website: http://www.barnwoodcomputers.co.uk/

It doesn't really grab you.

You say you are getting visitors, what's the bounce rate, and how long are they staying? I am guessing high bounce rate, and staying seconds, most heading for contact us.

The site is somewhat dull and lifeless.

On a sales site, your phone number should be easy to see up the top somewhere.

Your contact details should not be the first thing in the middle of the page.

Why isn't your special offer they first thing they see.

Your menus are poorly named, it is only from the name of the business some people will be able to guess what you do. The logo bar helps a little, but many don't know Asus, Sweex, tp-link, msi or Bullguard, they are also fairly cheep brands that people don't associate quality with.

What you need to do is decide who your competition are? Are you looking for local people or UK wide.

UK wide you are up against the likes of Ebuyer, Dabs, Scan, Dixons, Comet, PC world etc, your site is just nothing like theirs, and doesn't inspire confidence to purchase from you. If you are looking UK wide, why should people order from you, what do you do better or cheaper?

In short:
  • Your site needs much better design and presentation.
  • It needs to communicate better what it is doing.
  • You need a firm idea of what market you are targeting.
  • It needs to wow and woo people more.

Perhaps you should employ a website design specialist.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Hi,

I agree with previous post and will try not to duplicate feedback.

I've reviewed your website and my thoughts:-

1. I found some of the information pages very difficult to read due to formatting. e.g. Privacy page appears as one 'lump' of text and would benefit from re-formatting.

2. 'Contact' form - Suggest the form would benefit from being re-formatted. Also if you try and send a blank form the error messages are overpowering, suggest all you need is to highlight each field in 'red' with a note indicating that these fields needs populating.

3. When viewing the product pages I would have liked to have been provided with the price of each product without having to click through to the product details. Suggest this would save visitors time and keep their interest longer.

4. off-line: I suggest it would be useful to include your website link in your FreeIndex profile.

Hope this feedback is of use

Regards

Massively competive industry and unless you localise your business and offer more than just boxes you will find it tough to compete.

Found a hidden link in your footer also (white text on white background to eshopsforsale website) !

Oh! It's a Competitive Industry is it. I didn't realise that. What a Naughty Boy I am. But having been a Sales Representative for the Past 30 Years in a Very Competitive industry I think I can cope.

Actually several web designers have complimented me on the design. You must realise that what one person likes another doesn't. It would not do for us all to like the same things.

The White on White. well I put my Other Glasses on it is actually BLUE ON WHITE but perhaps i ought to take that up with my Optician.

The rectangular Boxes thinking about that perhaps I ought to go for Hat Shaped Boxes.

Thank you

It would be a good idea to be less defensive. Either that or don't ask for opinions on your website if you're simply going to attack negative comments.

You do realise that your reply is visible to all, even potential customers...

There are a some points you should consider here:
  1. We give up our time to you for free, professional advice for you, at no benefit to our selves. Most people would have the common decency to thank people for their time and effort.
  2. By your own statement "I think we have a good web Site but although it attracts some 50/60 prospective customers each and every day. They don't want to buy anything.", your site doesn't work, you may not like our advice, but clearly your prospective customers are telling you the same thing, your site doesn't work.
  3. You asked "Is our site any good? Be honest please", we were honest, if you don't like the answers, you should not have asked.
  4. Arguing with professional advice does not tell prospective customer/forum users "Then they know that I stand up for what is right", IMO it say something very different. I am afraid "What is right" is what the majority say, you are clearly in the minority.

After 30 years in the business you should know better. If you don't want advice, don't ask for it.

I wish you all the best in business, but would suggest when you ask for advice, and good advice is given you should listen.

also.. white text on white background is terible for SEO, Google reads this like you're trying to deceive users and marks you down. Negative feedback should be the best feedback you can get, use it to your advantage.

Firstly, I do understand you being defensive if this is a business personal to you BUT, you have been given some great (and knowledgable) advice about your site - its not meant as criticism.

Although it may be to your personal liking try to think a little broader as to how this is appealing to potential customers. If you are attracting traffic but not orders there must be a/some reason(s).

Personally I would try to use the advice constructively. Website need to continually develop to keep up with or ahead of competitors, the people here are trying to help you do that.

Your business is going to fail sadly with that attitude.  I would love people to say to me I hate this or I do not lie that of my website and if the concensus was there I would be proactive and adapt to change accordingly.  The difference is I have been through that and now have more work than I need.

So you did listen to our advice.  Still I guess the sales are slow though I would imagine.

I would come back with 2 questions. You don't say what you think of the New Site ?Also what makes you think Sales are slow ?
