| Original Message Added : 5 Feb 2011 I have tried to make the site easy to navigate around, easier to read and understand, added a couple of pieces for people that are not technical to make it easy to understand and added a new Tools page which contains 101 tools free to use. I would really like to know what your thoughts are on the changes. Regards Steve O SoPCs Computer Services |

| Reply : 5 Feb 2011 Completed a quick review and detailed my thoughts:- 1. Look, feel and navigation good. However some suggested improvements:- 1. Not sure why you have used an image on the front page 'Why Choose SoPCs' then a list of bullet points. I would suggest it would have been much better to have included as text as search engines find this much easier to understand than an image especially as you have not included an ALT tag within the image 2. As a rule you should not underline text unless it is a link 3. On the 'Our Services' page a. I would have liked to have seen the main page to have displayed each sub page in the same order as per the drop down menu list. b. I would also suggest it would be better to have a linked each sub page image instead of a 'Read More' link. 4. I still can't find a 'Privacy' page or T&Cs page. 5. Ran W3C html checker and you have some minor errors on each page 6. Ran W3C links checker and you have a broken link Hope this helps SteveB |

I would suggest it would have been much better to have included as text as search engines find this much easier to understand than an image especially as you have not included an ALT tag within the image Good spot Steve, I missed the fact that it was an image when it should have just been text. Now gone through site to double check all text. 2. As a rule you should not underline text unless it is a link All underlined text now corrected, didnt realise that was the general practice. So thanks. 3. On the 'Our Services' page a. I would have liked to have seen the main page to have displayed each sub page in the same order as per the drop down menu list. b. I would also suggest it would be better to have a linked each sub page image instead of a 'Read More' link. All images are now linked to relevant page, Read more has now been removed. 4. I still can't find a 'Privacy' page or T&Cs page. Really struggling with obtaining Privacy and T&C's as i could not write them myself as i dont know the terminology or legal side. 5. Ran W3C html checker and you have some minor errors on each page The problem here is: Line 66, Column 4: document type does not allow element "h1" here; missing one of "object", "applet", "map", "iframe", "button", "ins", "del" start-tag<h1>Computer Repairs, Services and IT Support.</h1> ✉ The mentioned element is not allowed to appear in the context in which you've placed it; the other mentioned elements are the only ones that are both allowed there and can contain the element mentioned. This might mean that you need a containing element, or possibly that you've forgotten to close a previous element. One possible cause for this message is that you have attempted to put a block-level element (such as "<p>" or "<table>") inside an inline element (such as "<a>", "<span>", or "<font>"). 6. Ran W3C links checker and you have a broken link This is to do with the addthis widget, I'm sure this is out of my control unless I removed it. | Reply : 8 Feb 2011 A nice, clean, technical website with loads of information. What I like most are:
What I liked least (only to be picky):
What confused me - you are using Associated text on your menu items, which appears when the mouse passes over - did you really mean to have:
It may help with SEO but at the expense of your customers. I have to admit that I have never seen menu items with Associated text before and, in fact, you could be the only one!!! To be honest, I am unsure whether you should leave it or not. Does anyone knows what is the stance of Google and associated spiders on this? You would not like to be "marked down"... Anyway, well done! Very user friendly, professional without the jargon (although I did not read it all) and informative. Enough to make your customers feel they are in good hands.
