We have Google + business page but never use it, don't find it much use to be honest.

Hello Lauren,

Google+ is Google's version of Facebook and both are more for social than business. I have registered with both but rarely use them for anything. However I will probably be setting up a Facebook page soon.

For business I use Linkedin.

Regards

Andrew

Hi Lauren,

We recently created a Google+ page for a client and linked it to their Facebook Page.

More small businesses are becoming aware of the need to embrace social media so I imagine we will receive more requests of this nature.

All the best

Thanks for the replies guys, i never "Got it" until a few days ago, i think it is a nifty little business tool, great for sharing stories and news about your business.

We use google apps so its nice to see everything we work with building a nice little social network for us to use.

I try to post on there at least once a day, never anything personal, usually stories ive found on the internet revolving around what we do as a business, if you have accounts please feel free to send me youe details :)

I, for one, absolutely love Google+. There are a few reasons for this.

Firstly, it's clean and easy to use. I can get on with it, it doesn't feel alien, and it just feels like a quality web application which in turn makes using it all the more pleasurable!

Further to this, there is a lot less rubbish on there than there is on Facebook! I'm not bombarded with "Joe Bloggs just read an article on The Guardian" or "Joanne Bloggs has just scored 1,000 points on FarmVille!". I get the information I want which is usually interesting stuff.

And the clincher is that, for business, it is the best tool to use to get a business across on the internet. I won't go in to the why's and how's, but it just is. If you have a business profile on there, get people adding it!

The one problem I have is that not enough of the people I know are on there. Probably because it isn't Facebook and the "celebrities" off TOWIE or The Kardashians aren't on there. I shouldn't complain, I'd rather see nice posts regarding witty Einstien quotes than some clown off one of those God awful shows saying something generally uninteresting and/or thick.

Interesting.

I've been in the IT support business almost 20 years and I've never managed to get it clear in my own mind how I would use social media from a business point of view. I've never felt it sat well with a target market of SMEs.

However, this year I've started to address the needs of the home user, and I can see I potential use for it there, but, based on my limited experience of Facebook and Twitter, I'm finding it difficult to get away from the idea of it being some monster that eats away at my precious time. I stopped using those two sites almost as soon as I signed up to them.

I fear Google+ may end up being the same thing, which is why I've left it alone. If current users are saying it could be used as an excelent business tool, then perhaps I should look at it again. I'd certainly be interested of hearing other user's experiences, both pros and cons.

I totally love it Google+ .. I find its perfect for collating important information for future reading and reference whilst also allowing me to network and collaborate with many business individuals on a global scale, for me its has the perfect balance between the personal nature of Facebook with the professional nature of LinkedIn.

You guys can find me on Google+ here -> Geoff Moore on Google+
