| Original Message Added : 2 Oct 2010 - (Edited : 2 Oct 2010) I congratulate you on having built, and sustained, an excellent website. I have a question concerning a link to freeindex, from my website. I successfully placed a link from my website to freeindex, and everything came over O.K. except that there were some minor grammatical errors on my "Company Profile" page. Please note that this not the Company Profile page which I see when I review it from freeindex; it is the one which appears when one clicks on the link from my website. Thus: 1. The words: document.write(' appear at the top of the page. 2. An apostrphie s (i.e. 's) at the end of my surname, came out as \'s I cannot see how to contact you directly with a question; that is why this has gone out as a "Suggestion" Please advise; ideally to my email address. |

| Reply : 4 Oct 2010 Thanks for getting in touch. All of the issues with the page that you've linked to from your website have been caused because you have not used the correct code for linking to your page - you have not included the "script" section of the link at the beginning and end, so it's not being interpreted correctly by your computer. It may be that your website editing software has automatically edited the code, which sometimes causes this kind of problem. However, rather than fixing the code, which could be quite a complex process, the best way for you to link directly to your FreeIndex profile page is simply to use the standard link, which for your business is http://www.freeindex.co.uk/profile(patently-creative)_231517.htm or www.patentlycreative.freeindex.co.uk If you prefer, you can insert a reviews gadget into your HTML code which will display your testimonials directly on your own web site from FreeIndex, with no need to link to your profile page. Just go to My FreeIndex > Gadgets for your Website, and you will see the option marked "Reviews Gadget". Click on that to see the customiseable HTML code, specific to your business, which will allow you to display your reviews on any webpage where you insert this code. It will also automatically detect any new reviews you receive and include those. You just need to ensure that the code supplied is used exactly as it is provided, or it won't work correctly. As I've said, often it is your web editing software which automatically changes the code, so please look out for this if you choose to use this gadget. I hope that answers your question. I've sent a copy of this to your email address also. It can be somewhat difficult to follow these kind of issues exactly, but please feel free to get in touch again if you have any further queries or difficulties. Best wishes, The FreeIndex Team

| Reply : 5 Oct 2010 Thanks for the reply re the problem with grammatical errors. However, due to considerable difficulty in using HTML code with the website development package which I am using, I can only paste the URL of a page into a page on my website. Therefore, can you suggest a way to use the "URL" method, in order to link directly to the Testimonial page, without having to go to my Profile Page? Brian |

| Reply : 5 Oct 2010 Further to my previous post, concerning the possibility of using a URL instead of HTML code, I have now managed to get the reviews widget onto my website, but because my background colour is Black, the review text is invisible! All of my pages have a black background, so I do not wish to change the background colour. Please advise. |

| Reply : 5 Oct 2010 Thanks for getting back in touch. You should be able to customize the code for the reviews gadget so that the text is in the colour of your choice. If you go back to the My FreeIndex > Gadgets for your Website > Reviews Gadget page, you will see (above the box containing the code text) a number of options for customizing the gadget. The seventh option from the top is called "Main Text Colour". Click on the box next to that option (which should contain the colour code, default is 000000 for Black) and select the colour that you would like for your reviews text. Then click on the button marked "Regenerate Code". This will give you a revised HTML code for the gadget which has the colour of the text changed to your liking. You'll just need to use the new, customized code instead of the original code that you inputted. Hope that answers your question. Best wishes, The FreeIndex Team |

| Reply : 5 Oct 2010 If I could find the HTML code for the colour of the text that my "testimonial provider" has input, I could change it. The only way that it can be read at present, is by highlighting it. I presume that you know the address of my website, so you will be able to see what I am talking about. I can see the widget on my website (but without the testimonial text) but I cannot see it when I am editing the page on my website! Best wishes, and please advise further. |

| Reply : 6 Oct 2010 Many thanks for getting back in touch and letting us know about this problem. I am no coding expert so I asked our site maintenance team to take a look at the issue, and it seems that you were doing everything correctly, but there was a slight error in the system which meant that the specific customization you were trying to implement was not getting picked up on. This has now been fixed, and it looks like your Testimonials page is now working properly, with the customized code being interpreted correctly. For future reference, if you have a fairly advanced knowledge of website design and specifically CSS, you can always use the CSS Style Sheet provided on the Review Gadget page, which will allow you to have complete control over how the review gadget appears on your site. But I wouldn't recommend experimenting with this option unless you're confident of what you're doing or unless you have a professional on hand to advise you. Hope that resolves the problem for you. Thanks again for pursuing this and helping us to improve the site. Best wishes, The FreeIndex Team

| Reply : 6 Oct 2010 Since the freeindex website states that 3 reviews are available; what happens when you have four or more? I have noticed that the "Reviews Widget" follows the alignment of the text above it, however much I try to adjust that text in relation to the widget when using my website development software. Is there any way of formatting the position of the widget independently of any other text on a page? Thanks for sorting out the "apparently invisible text" problem. Brian |

| Reply : 7 Oct 2010 Thanks for getting back in touch. The number of reviews displayed on the gadget is also a customizable option, so you can have more than three if you like. If the number of reviews you have exceeds the number of reviews displayed on the gadget, then the most recent reviews will be displayed. Independent formatting of the widget position is really moving into advanced website design and coding, and I'm afraid at this point my level of expertise definitely isn't going to be enough to help you any further. Using the CSS Style Sheet provided (have a look directly under the box containing the generated code on the review gadget page to find the link) should allow you to exercize complete control over the gadget and how it appears on your site. However, if you're not already familiar with CSS, you will need to seek out some further assistance. There's a lot of useful information on the subject which is available online, and of course you can approach a professional web designer for really specific assistance if you wish. Sorry I can't be more helpful with this. Best wishes, The FreeIndex Team

| Reply : 7 Oct 2010 As I have stated in one of the answers to a question regarding Intellectual Property, which I gave on freeindex, my presence on freeindex needs "tuning". In other words, I am a Patent Consultant and Professional Inventor, and need to get Inventors (Private and Business based) to locate me. Please advise. Best wishes. http://www.patently-creative.co.uk |

| Reply : 7 Oct 2010 Now you are venturing into the area of Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, which (as you probably know) involves a great many variables and small details. Again, there's a wealth of information available on the subject, and if you'd like to post a question in the FreeIndex IT and Internet forums, I'm sure you would get a lot of information and advice back from the community. With specific reference to your FreeIndex page, though, the best thing you can do is to include the key search terms that you would like to be found for in your profile text. For example, if you want to target inventors who visit the site looking for advice, then you might include a sentence which says something like "Available to provide advice for inventors." Then searches for "inventor advice" should bring up your business in the search results. You can see this in action with your existing profile. For example, if you search for "Inventors" on the site, your business is the second result listed out of the UK as a whole. I hope that's useful information. Best wishes, The FreeIndex Team
