Original Message Added : 4 Jul 2012 I run my own Health, Safety and Environmental consultancy and was wondering if any of you would like to give me some feedback. I only tend to get a slow trickle of work through the site and, therefore, most of my work is 'word of mouth'. I feel I'm missing out on a major source of marketting. Please feel free to be as critical as you want. www.spsafetyservices.co.uk Thanks in advance, Seth

Reply : 4 Jul 2012 - (Edited : 4 Jul 2012) Regards, Barry Edge. P.s. Alan, if only it was as simple as posting your site on free directories. It does help, but there is a lot more to it than that unfortunately. If you want any help with your site I would be glad to help.

Reply : 4 Jul 2012 - (Edited : 4 Jul 2012) Where do you want your business customers to come from - local or national? How you answer this question will determine how you market your services. There are a number of ways to market your services - website, online and offline advertising, social media, business networks, word of mouth and referrals to name a few. Start with your website. Look at the content of the website particularly the home page. Describe your top five services in a concise way (keywords/key phrases) and include your targeted areas. I suggest - HSEQ Services Rhyl, HSEQ Services North Wales, HSEQ Services Chester, Fire Safety Liverpool, Fire Safety Chester etc. How will your customers search for you? Get a Freeindex premium account as it will allow you to do better promotion and remove competitor adverts. Keep it simple. One thing at a time. Regards Andrew

Reply : 4 Jul 2012 Some really useful stuff. I am hoping to tap into the local (North Wales/North West) market as I already have national clients that provide ongoing work. Obviously, I'd never turn any additional nation work down!!! Best regards, Seth

Reply : 4 Jul 2012 Spotted a few things: 1. About page: It's "led by" not "lead by" 2. Contact page: visible not visable 3. Contact page: please fill in the form below (not the below form) 4. Services: Marine - remove 2 full stops after bullet points Best regards Tracy SuperSecretary

| Reply : 29 Sep 2012 1) Homepage: as a general trend for Small-medium sized companies, Header section of the website should be crafted, with unique and bespoke illustration along with quick contact info. Background of site should be soft and can be patterned or just a soft gradient with an overlay of cross-hatch. Slider images are very important and finishing touches can be concealed with the right selection of typography. Stock images should be sharp and adequately compressed to make sure it doesnt become too blur. 2) common services or regarding how you deliver your services should be just under the slider section, with a quick enquiry form in a separate column. have a look at this site for example: http://www.oliverjohn.co.uk can give you more tips on design and development.
