Hi Phill,

I know this is always a thorny subject about the benefits of Adwords versus other forms of advertising. Google Adwords can be useful to promote your business whilst other forms of say offline advertising build up your customer base and whilst your website gains improved 'organic' search rankings and then hopefully you can reduce your Adwords or maybe change the keywords to further attract more visitors.

However, sorry to be harsh but:-

1. Your 'organic' search rankings will only improve if your website is fully optimised and is interesting to visitors thus encouraging them to navigate around your website.

2. I've completed a quick review of your website and you have little if any optimisation:-

a. Suggest you need to identify a number of keyword phrases that directly relate to your business. As you are geographically based then suggest they also include geographic locations you want to promote.

a. limited Meta tags; limited ALT tags; no sitemap; no meaningful page titles; not submitted to Google Analytics to name a view.

b. All these will cause problems with search engines understanding the content of your website and thus poor 'organic' search rankings.

c. Suggest it would also help if you had a Google API map on a 'Find Us' page and Google places to identify the geographic areas you cover.

3. Even if your website is found the next step is:-

a. to encourage the visitor to navigate your website and to do this you not only need meaningful content about the service/product your are offering but also make it fresh and interesting.

b. You could perhaps provide useful advice to DIY/homeowners how to maintain their homes. You may think this is taking work away from you but in my view this will promote your website/business and should encourage visitors to refers others to it and this would hopefully generate new business.

If you need some help or wish to discuss further please give me a call or visit our website: www.pxwm.co.uk

Hi Phil, try typing free business advertising in google. you can list with a number of directories similar to freeindex. And make sure you put your website down. many of these directories come on the first page of google. And looking at your website there a a few grammatical and spelling errors. This doesn't look professional in days of spell-check etc. I'd pull your web designer up on that.
