Hi, I'm looking to extend my wedding photography business and thought that cross advertising with other wedding services [ florists, cake makers, make-up artists etc] on each other's websites might be good. Anyone tried it and how did it go?Anyone interested in the Cambridgeshire area?

Hi Robin

Yes, any cross-selling / networking between related services / companies is a good idea.

Just make sure that the business you link-up with has a good reputation. (Freeindex and other reviews - don't forget to gather your own Wink)

Your website statistics will show how many people click through from the linked site, and if they are interested in what you have to offer. (by the length of time they stay)

You could do a city or wedding-related trades search in Freeindex, and approach the best related businesses with your proposal.

I did a quick Google search for 'wedding photographers in Ely' but your website isn't on the first 3 pages. This may stop other businesses from linking-up with you. You need to work on your website search engine optimisation (SEO) to improve your ranking, so other businesses will want to link with you. (we can help)

Hope you found this answer useful.

Good luck.

Kind regards

Gil

This is a great idea and Gil's ideas are spot on about reputation and needing better SEO yourself.

Are there any wedding fairs on soon, that you could go to and talk to potential strategic partners?  Don't just think about direct wedding services, think about hotels, caterers, local travel agents.

You could get some colourful blank postcards made up with perhaps 1-2 of your best shots on the front, by a local club flyer company (about £250 for 10,000) and take them around to potential JV partners.  Because they are postcards, if beautiful they will be picked up and used, with people sending them to people they know are getting married, especially if there is a tiny special offer printed on the back.

One local guy here in Brighton is worth studying, Paul Fletcher Wedding Photography - he's dominating the search engines and getting lots of business.

He posts up pics on his blog, and writes up about the wedding, all of that get's him a lot of search engine action.

Hope this helps?

Cheers, Nicola

Hi Robin

I have just started up a Wedding Stationery website and I am keen to do the same as you - linking to other business in the wedding industry.

As I have just started up I don't link high in google search engines at the moment but hope to do so in the near future. If you are interested please let me know.

Kind regards

Lisa
