Cheap Gas and Electricity for Businesses...

The largest energy company in the UK, British Gas has over 15 million customers so they must be doing something right! Now offering tailored business products British Gas is offering some impressive deals on gas and electricity.

As a small business it's important to exercise caution where energy suppliers are concerned. There are plenty of options but energy prices continue to rise and finances are tight, so tread carefully.

Until now, energy watch has acted as a reliable independent gas and electricity watchdog - providing valuable advice about private and small businesses energy. Unfortunately though, this corporation won't be around for much longer so it's even more important to put in some time and research. And prioritise: if you opt for a combined gas and electricity supplier, make sure your contract reflects your usage - consider lighting, heating, air conditioning, office equipment, kitchen equipment, industrial equipment etc.

British Gas Business offer a range of business gas services with a number of customer incentives, such as up to 15% off on your gas when you buy online. British Gas has been around for years - they know the market and the consumer. Optional extras with small business gas products include insurance - for example: keep your heating system safe for under £30 per month. The British Gas website also serves as an information resource, with tips about how to make sure your business is energy efficient.

There are a number of things to make sure your small business gas bill (and electricity bill for that matter) doesn’t go completely through the roof – it may seem fairly obvious but it’s easy to keep putting it off until it’s too late!

- Heating and air con – only use when necessary. If possible use fans instead of air con, it’s arguably healthier for all staff, and a more efficient use of electricity. Also be sure to change filters about once a month.

- Lighting: energy saving light bulbs should be used wherever possible – on top of the environmental benefits, they last longer and are more than worth the slight extra cost. Also remember to turn everything off fully – leaving something on standby can use up almost electricity as when it’s on.
